Young's literal translation + Manna/Memory 1 John 2:18-23 + God Has Spoken in 1st John (Kaung)

1 John (Youngs)

We're in the 2nd half of our 1st John studies! It's time for us to share more of our notes and begin to fellowship with others who have studied and shared their comments. I've been reserving some of my notes to not overwhelm the group before we reached this spot, but I'm planning to share more now and encourage everyone to do the same.

Translation:

First, let's read the Young's literal translation this time. I have a large white paperback version of this at home but you can find the digital version everywhere that has Bible translations. Attached is a copy just in case.

You may have seen Young's Analytical Concordance to the Bible. That is a concordance worth having at home. It's not just for searching to find a word. And it doesn't include Strong's #s. But he does something unique in it and organizes the words a little so as to help with word studies.

Something to notice with this translation is Young purposed to just use the TR (Textus Receptus) text for the New Testament. Also, he wanted to get the present or past tenses to be exactly as they were in the original. This makes for terrible English and a very interesting study. I'm pretty sure no one is able to use this as a personal translation but all of us should keep it in mind whenever studying.

Focus:

1 John 2:18-23 Let's practice the manna and memory for these verses.

Commentary:

Not really a commentary, but a Bible overview: God Has Spoken in 1st John (or it may be called "Seeing Christ in 1st John"). This 1 chapter on 1st John gives a great overview of it and we are ready for such things after reading through 25x. I usually say we can check these overviews out after 5x but if you're doing a nerd-study you may as well wait until #25 before opening other books. I'll share the message link as well so you can hear the original message. Also, the eBook for this one chapter will be free for 5 days starting tomorrow. I'll post that link for Amazon's kindle version separately. You can buy this physical booklet by itself on Amazon.com. I'll also post that link.

If you're not familiar with the God Has Spoken series, it is a must-have. In short, you find Christ in each book of the Bible. At the same time, you walk away from reading (or listening) with some general understanding of the whole book. It's not a commentary on all of the verses, but it is what we need to get the larger points of our outlines as we study. I'll share some links in the comments here so you can listen to it. The audiobook version isn't finished but the original message given is available and is fun to listen to.

The mystery of Israel: a conversation about prophecies and modern events

This is not a message, it is more of a discussion that I’ve been having with several people by phone call or email or chat or in person. This only includes some notes on it but I wanted to share a more comprehensive view all at once.

God Has Spoken Series

Question: Where can I get the audio messages of Stephen Kaung's God Has Spoken series? If I could recommend only one book or series by Stephen Kaung it would be his God Has Spoken series. He shared a message for each book of the Bible, giving a simple overview and revealing the way to find Christ as you read. It is not only his classic set but it's His way with the Scriptures. Our brother could always find Christ and find Him as He's meant to be found. For a new believer and an old believer, this is the first set to have as guide through the Bible and a reference set to go back to later on.  Below are links to each of the original messages.   Old Testament  Introduction to the Old Testament Genesis -The Will of God Exodus -The Works of God Leviticus - The Ways of God Numbers -The Walk of God Deuteronomy - The Word of God Joshua - Possessing the Land   Judges - Possessing all the Possessions Ruth - Recovery of the Inheritance I Samuel - Epoch-...

How do I prepare to share a 5-minute message?

I just received a question via text from a brother who is about to share a short word at an upcoming event. He wanted to know how I prepare when I'm sharing a word. There are many more details to talk about, but for those 5-minute times, here are my notes: 1) Pray for the people  The "burden of the word" (Mal 1:1) or the specific main word I get often comes through this. If I have no clue what to share on and I'm asking the Lord about it, the answer doesn't always come until I begin to pray for the people. More often than not, I'll be praying for the souls, and some Scripture or topic will come through that. Sometimes I already have the word, and I cannot tell when it came, but I know what I should share on. In your case, you may have a word already in your heart that has worked in you to get you to this point. Even still, you take the word and bring it to the Lord and pray for the people that will be listening. 2) Meditate and receive the word The largest par...
